Allon Friedman, MD, is a practicing nephrologist, clinical investigator, and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN. He received his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, completed his medical residency and nephrology fellowship at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, MA, and underwent further training in clinical nutrition at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)-Human Nutrition Research Center for Aging in Boston, MA. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, and Clinical Nutrition.

Dr. Friedman spends his time caring for patients and conducting clinical research in the overlapping areas of nutrition and kidney health/disease. His current projects involve the effects of obesity on kidney function and the clinical applications of long chain omega-3 fatty acids in the kidney disease population. The National Institutes of Health, the National Kidney Foundation, and other private organizations fund his research.
